On Friday 16th October two soldiers came to visit our school. They brought the Irish flag and a copy of the proclamation. This was read out for the first time at the GPO during the Easter Rising in 1916. Next year we will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Easter Rising. Rory from Room 9 was chosen to read part of the proclamation during the army visit. We were all very proud of him. The soldiers taught us how to respect the Irish flag. We sang our national anthem, Amhran na bhFiann and Óró Se Do Bheatha Abhaile.
